Cervione Cathedral, Baroque cathedral in Cervione, France
The Saint-Erasme Cathedral features a Latin cross layout with three vaulted naves, transept arms, and an elliptical dome above the crossing.
Built between 1714 and 1745, the cathedral served as the seat of the Aleria diocese until 1802 when it merged with the Ajaccio diocese.
The cathedral houses numerous religious paintings, including depictions of Saint Alexander Sauli kneeling before the cross and the Virgin Mary with Child.
Visitors can explore the cathedral's architectural elements, religious artwork, and wooden organ, which dates from the 18th century and ranks among Corsica's finest instruments.
The cathedral's organ, transferred from the Saint Francis of Campulori monastery between 1797 and 1861, underwent multiple restorations to maintain its musical integrity.
