Parc à loups du Gévaudan

Parc à Loups du Gévaudan is a wolf park in the Aubrac forest region with multiple observation trails where visitors can watch different wolf packs in a natural setting. The grounds span roughly 20 hectares with several wolf species and lineages living in spacious enclosures throughout the area.

The site was established in 1962 to study wolves and document their behaviors. Over decades of research, it evolved into an important place for rebuilding understanding about wolves in France.

The park helps visitors understand how wolves fit into the local landscape and how people and wolves can coexist in the same region. Daily observation lets people see natural behaviors and challenges common fears about these animals.

The park sits about an hour and a half south of Clermont-Ferrand and is best reached by car, as public transportation to this rural area is limited. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes since the observation trails vary in difficulty depending on terrain.

The grounds hold several wolf breeds and source populations side by side to show differences in their behavioral patterns. Visitors can observe how wolves from different geographic regions display different social structures and hunting techniques.
