Maison du Crible, Renaissance house in Saint-Jean district, Lyon, France.

Maison du Crible is a Renaissance house in the Saint-Jean district of Lyon featuring four stories and a central portal crowned with a triangular pediment. The building opens into a courtyard where a pink spiral staircase tower rises, connecting the interior spaces across multiple levels.

The house was built in the 16th century and may have been designed by Italian architect Sebastiano Serlio. King Henry IV of France stayed here in 1600 during his marriage celebrations to Marie de Medici at the nearby Cathedral of Saint-Jean.

The building displays a blend of Gothic and Renaissance elements visible in its façade and interior spaces. This combination of architectural styles reflects the stylistic transition that shaped the Old Town of Lyon.

The building sits on Rue du Boeuf in the Old Town and now houses a hotel and restaurant, both accessible to visitors. The metro station Vieux Lyon - Cathédrale Saint-Jean is within walking distance and makes getting there straightforward.

The property includes terraced gardens on the hillside behind the building with windows from the spiral staircase offering views across multiple garden levels. This hidden green space tucked behind a historic façade often goes unnoticed by visitors.
