Museum Baron Martin

Museum Baron Martin occupies the Château de Gray and displays artworks, scientific collections, and natural history objects within an 18th-century building. The rooms hold paintings from different periods alongside taxidermied animals and geological specimens.

The institution opened in 1903 and gained official recognition as a Museum of France in 2003 from the Ministry of Culture. This designation marked an important acknowledgment of its value for regional collections.

The museum exhibits 700 mounted birds, 400 insects, and 6700 fossils, along with numerous paintings that represent various periods of French art history.

The collection holds an extensive herbarium of eastern French regions with thousands of dried plant samples. This botanical collection was assembled by a scholar and offers unusual insight into the region's historical plant life.
