Château de Beaumont, Medieval castle in Beaumont-la-Ronce, France.
Château de Beaumont is a castle in Beaumont-Louestault in the Indre-et-Loire region. The building combines a square tower from the 13th century with an octagonal brick tower and sits surrounded by gardens.
The castle originated in the 13th century and later gained nobility status when Claude Bonnin de la Bonnière acquired the property in 1691. By the 18th century it held the rank of a marquisate, reflecting its growing importance in the region.
The renowned poet Pierre de Ronsard mentioned the castle square tower in his writings during the 16th century.
The castle sits on Rue du Huit Mai 1945 and is visible from outside, but visitors cannot enter the interior as it remains privately owned and lived in. You can appreciate the exterior architecture and garden layout from the street and explore the village surroundings.
A Louis XII-style wing was added between 1874 and 1880 under the direction of architects Gustave and Charles Guérin. This late addition preserves the romantic taste of the 19th century and shows how the castle was reshaped in modern times.
