Église Saint-Pierre de La Sauve

Church Saint-Pierre is a house of worship with a rectangular nave divided into three sections and defined by wall paintings from the late 16th century. The interior features carved stone corbels that blend elements from two different construction periods.

The place of worship was founded in 1083 and acquired its current appearance through reconstruction in Gothic style during the late 12th and early 13th centuries. This transformation shaped the building's character permanently.

The flat chevet displays four life-size statues from the 16th century, representing Saint Peter, the Virgin Mary, Saint Michael, and Saint James.

The building welcomes visitors on Sundays, and it helps to check opening days in advance since these vary seasonally. A visit needs no special preparation, and you can explore the interior arrangement on your own.

Since 2020 the building houses a precious pipe organ crafted in 1878 by a renowned French organ maker for a celebrated composer. This instrument is a rare example of a historic sacred music installation.
