Château de Charmant

Château de Charmant is a castle in France featuring a rectangular layout with arcade galleries, a corbelled corner turret, and carefully arranged hedges that frame the structure. The main parts were built during the 16th century and remain organized in this distinctive configuration today.

The site functioned as a Knights Templar commandery in the 13th century, protecting important pilgrimage routes that crossed the region. It was later transformed into a manor house and received the Renaissance features visible on the buildings today.

This castle displays architectural features from different time periods, showing how French noble homes evolved from medieval to Renaissance styles. The visible elements like arcades and corner turrets reflect the building changes made over centuries.

The estate welcomes visitors and offers a swimming pool, playground, and barbecue area for outdoor activities. Guest rooms are available on the property if you wish to stay longer, with private parking conveniently located on site.

The manor contains mysterious underground chambers whose original purpose remains unclear to this day. These rooms were sealed off during the 1950s and are not open to regular visitors.
