Audierne

Audierne is a coastal town in Brittany located at the southwestern tip of the Cornouaille peninsula. It spreads along a working harbor where fishing boats and small commercial vessels dock, with buildings sloping down toward the waterfront.

Audierne developed from a fishing village into a working port town centered on Atlantic maritime trade. In 2016, the town expanded when the former commune of Esquibien merged into its territory.

The Saturday morning market here brings together local farmers and fishermen who sell their goods directly to residents and visitors. This weekly gathering reflects the community's deep ties to farming and fishing traditions.

The town is easy to explore on foot since most shops and services cluster around the harbor area. Visitors should prepare for changeable weather and wear sturdy shoes, as the terrain is hilly.

The mouth of the Goyen river creates a distinctive landscape where freshwater and saltwater meet, fostering a varied mix of wildlife and plant life. This ecological zone attracts birders and nature enthusiasts who want to witness the convergence of different habitats.
