Cardoland, Amusement park in Chamoux, France
Cardoland is an amusement park in Chamoux featuring 88 life-sized dinosaur sculptures positioned along walking paths throughout the grounds. An underground cave system with prehistoric frescoes and sound effects complements the outdoor experience.
The site was founded in 1981 by artist Raoul Cardo, who realized a vision of creating large-scale prehistoric animal sculptures from cement and wire. His artistic work became the foundation for this entertainment destination.
The park invites visitors to participate in hands-on activities such as fossil digs and ancient painting techniques that bring prehistory to life. These experiences help children learn through doing rather than just observing.
The park is best visited during the warm months of July and August when all areas are fully accessible. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since the grounds feature extended pathways and uneven cave terrain.
The park hosts regular prehistoric circus performances featuring 45-minute shows with Stone Age combat scenes and fire acts. Animated dinosaur characters take the stage to interact with the performers during these shows.
