Cime de la Cacia

Cime de la Cacia is a mountain summit in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region with expansive views over the valleys below. The ascent passes through pine forests and scrubland vegetation leading to a stone cairn at the peak.

The summit contains remains of an ancient castellaras, a fortified settlement from earlier times. These ruins show the site was strategically important for controlling the surrounding landscape.

The summit overlooks several nearby villages tucked into protected positions against northern winds. These settlements shape the valley and show how people have historically chosen to live in this region.

The hiking route requires moderate physical effort and is best done from April through December. Weather can change quickly at altitude, so it is wise to bring weather-resistant gear.

On clear days, the distant peaks of the Mercantour-Argentera mountain chain are visible stretching toward the Mediterranean. These mountains are considerably taller and create an impressive backdrop when viewed from this summit.
