Pic du Bonhomme

Pic du Bonhomme is an Alpine summit featuring rocky slopes and exposed terrain typical of high mountain environments. The peak sits within a range of surrounding mountains and can be approached from several directions across nearby valleys.

Mountaineers first explored this Alpine section during the 1800s and worked to establish defined climbing routes. These early expeditions expanded knowledge of the range and enabled subsequent mountaineers to reach the summit more safely.

Shepherds historically moved their flocks across these slopes during summer grazing seasons. The tradition of transhumance, moving livestock to higher pastures, shaped how people interacted with this mountain landscape.

The ascent demands proper alpine equipment and reasonable fitness levels, best attempted from June through September. Weather patterns and snow coverage significantly affect whether climbing conditions are safe and feasible.
