Orlec

Orlec is a settlement on the northeastern coast of Cres Island situated on limestone terrain with Mediterranean vegetation. The village spreads across several levels with traditional Adriatic houses and open areas.

The settlement developed in ancient times due to its location near important maritime routes. This position connected inhabitants with trade networks throughout the Mediterranean and Adriatic regions.

The houses display traditional stone construction with narrow passages that follow the natural slopes. The settlement preserves the architectural style typical of Cres Island.

You can reach the village by ferry from Rijeka or Brestova to Cres Island, followed by local roads through the mountainous landscape. Having your own transport makes the journey straightforward since the routes are well established.

Residents work terraced olive fields and raise sheep on the surrounding grasslands as part of their daily routine. This agricultural practice shapes the everyday character of the place.
