Lawe Bulan, district in Southeast Aceh Regency, Aceh Province, Indonesia
Lowe Bulen is a district in Southeast Aceh, Indonesia, spanning a large area with rivers, forests, and hills. The area consists of several small settlements with simple houses situated near fields and natural landscapes.
The district was established in 1974 when land was separated from Central Aceh. The area was settled over generations by the Alas people, who maintained their traditional way of life, while later migrants from other regions arrived.
The Alas people, the original inhabitants, shape cultural life through traditional customs, language, and celebrations still practiced today. Music, dance, and festivities bring the community together and keep these traditions alive, while migrants from other regions have introduced new influences.
The area has limited services and basic supplies may not be immediately available. Visitors typically stay in the nearby town of Kutacane and travel to the district by small vehicles or on foot.
The area is part of the Leuser Ecosystem, one of the last remaining regions with tropical forests and diverse wildlife. Visitors can explore the dense forests with local guides and experience nature sounds and forest air that few beyond residents encounter.
