Knocknashee rises 276 meters above sea level with a prominence of 175 meters, featuring grass-covered slopes and natural rock formations at its peak.

Archaeological excavations near Knocknashee have revealed evidence of ancient settlements, indicating human presence in the area dating back several centuries.

The name Knocknashee derives from Irish 'Cnoc na Sí', translating to 'Hill of the Fairies', reflecting traditional Irish folklore connections to the mountain.

The summit path starts from the eastern side of the mountain, requiring sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing for the approximately one-hour ascent.

The mountain offers clear views extending to the Atlantic Ocean on the western horizon and the Ox Mountains range to the north.
