O'Dea Castle, Medieval tower house in Corofin, Ireland.
The stone fortress rises 50 feet high on a limestone outcrop, featuring four floors with ten rooms displaying local artifacts and exhibits.
Built between 1470 and 1490 by Diarmaid O'Dea, the castle witnessed the Battle of Dysert O'Dea in 1318 that expelled Anglo-Normans from the region.
The castle functions as Clare Archaeology Centre, exhibiting collections spanning from 1000 BC to 1700 AD, including medieval carpenter workshops.
The castle opens daily from May through September, 10 AM to 6 PM, offering guided tours, a tearoom, and access to the archaeological trail.
The castle connects to twenty-five field monuments, forming an archaeological trail that includes a round tower and St. Tola's High Cross.
