Ballyportry Castle

Ballyportry Castle is a medieval tower house that rises seven stories high with thick limestone walls and features an internal stone spiral staircase connecting multiple chambers and a spacious Great Hall. The interior accommodates six bedrooms, two bathrooms, underfloor heating, and a fully equipped kitchen.

This tower house was built around 1500 and kept its original structure as Irish aristocracy declined during the 17th century. The stone construction allowed the building to survive through centuries of regional change.

The castle uses traditional Irish materials including Liscannor stone floors and Kilkenny marble countertops. The ceiling displays original hazel branches, connecting to age-old building methods still visible today.

The location sits near the Burren region and offers roof walk views of surrounding fields, lakes, and grazing areas. The renovated building features modern conveniences like underfloor heating and a fully equipped kitchen for comfortable stays.
