Kangju Kangri

Kangju Kangri is a peak in the Pangong Range rising to about 6,725 meters in elevation. Its slopes overlook a tri-headed glacier and the Pangong Lake, which stretches across the high-altitude landscape below.

The mountain was first summited in 1983 by members of the Indo-Tibet Border Police and military personnel. This expedition marked a significant milestone in exploring this remote region.

The mountain stands within Ladakh territory, where Buddhist monasteries and nomadic settlements reflect centuries of adaptation to high-altitude environments.

Visitors need an Inner Line Permit to access the region and should plan expeditions during summer months. The high-altitude climate requires careful preparation and multiple rest days for acclimatization at different elevations.

The peak stands out for its prominence of about 2,147 meters, making it a significant summit in the region. Despite its notable height, it remains lesser-known compared to other famous mountains in the area.
