Madina Mosque, Shillong

The Madina Mosque features a magnificent glass structure with a central dome, four smaller domes, and minarets spanning 121 meters in length and 61 meters in width.

The Shillong Muslim Union, established in 1905 in East Bengal, funded the construction of this mosque, investing approximately 2 crores rupees in the early 2010s.

The mosque incorporates an Islamic library, a theological institute for religious studies, and the Meherba orphanage to serve the Muslim community in Meghalaya.

The four-story religious building accommodates 8,000 worshippers with dedicated prayer spaces for women and maintains regular prayer schedules throughout the day.

Hindu laborers from Coochbehar in West Bengal contributed their skills to construct India's first glass mosque, demonstrating interfaith collaboration in religious architecture.
