Signature Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Delhi, India
Signature Bridge is a cable-stayed structure crossing the Yamuna River using a single asymmetric mast that holds suspension wires for the spanning deck. The support, built from exposed steel, stands at an angle and carries a concrete road surface divided into multiple traffic lanes.
Planning became formal in the late 1990s when older routes grew congested. Construction started in 2010 and the structure opened in 2018 after facing technical challenges with the cantilever support system.
The bridge connects the river banks and features lighting that changes during local festivals. Residents and visitors use the pedestrian decks to walk during evening hours when the temperature drops.
Access is available from both sides via pedestrian walkways, with early morning and late evening offering better visibility across the river. Elevator rides operate when wind remains moderate, since conditions can shift throughout the day.
The pylon tilts at 75 degrees to the horizontal, a rare angle for this structure type. This steep inclination was chosen to distribute loads more effectively onto the foundation area.
