Kaiserklamm

Kaiserklamm is a narrow limestone canyon in Brandenberg where a small river flows through towering rock walls. A path winds about one kilometer through this natural formation, following the Brandenberger Ache stream the entire way.

The pathways through the canyon were built in the 16th century to move timber, which then floated downstream. These old routes show how the place served an economic purpose long ago.

The name comes from Emperor Franz Joseph I, who visited this area with his wife and left his mark on the place. The tight pathways show how people have long valued living close to the water.

Access is normally possible from May through October when weather conditions are safe. Visitors should know it closes during winter months due to snow and ice.

The limestone walls have a greenish shimmer that reflects onto the water, giving the place an unusual color dynamic. This effect comes from how light hits the damp rock surfaces.
