Belvedere Palace Chapel, Palace chapel in Belvedere complex, Vienna, Austria
The Belvedere Palace Chapel occupies the southeastern corner tower of the Upper Belvedere, featuring red-brownish marble and white walls with gold decorations.
Architect Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt completed the chapel construction in 1723, initially reserving it for Prince Eugene and selected nobility members.
The chapel contains an altarpiece depicting the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, painted by Francesco Solimena between 1719 and 1729.
The chapel holds Catholic Mass every Sunday at noon, continuing a tradition established under the direction of former museum director Hubert Adolph.
The ceiling fresco by Carlo Innocenzo Carlone shows God the Father with the Holy Spirit as a dove, surrounded by Italian-style angel figures.
