Burg Raaf, Medieval castle ruins in Berlotte, Belgium
The stone keep rises among farmland, featuring four watchtowers on heavy corbels and walls constructed from sandstone blocks reaching 12 meters high.
Built around 1300, the castle belonged to Johann Crümmel von Eynatten in 1380 and remained a subject of ownership disputes between noble families.
The castle represents medieval defensive architecture of the German-speaking region of Belgium, with its characteristic watchtowers and moat system.
The castle ruins stand on private land near Raeren, maintaining historical elements including remnants of fireplaces and ceiling brackets within the tower.
The castle lost its roof in 1832 due to tax reasons, leading to the current state of preservation of the medieval stronghold.
