Kasteel Ten Torre

Kasteel Ten Torre is a brick castle in Beernem with corner towers and a defensive moat, set among the dense woods of Ryckevelde. The structure combines medieval fortification elements with 19th-century residential features.

The structure was built in 1845 upon foundations from a 1353 fortress, and redesigned by architect Stefaan Mortier following French architectural traditions. This renovation transformed the medieval defensive building into a comfortable residence.

The estate reflects Belgian architectural evolution through its combination of medieval defensive elements and 19th-century residential adaptations.

The building now serves as a vacation rental with eight bedrooms and seven bathrooms, accommodating groups of up to 22 guests. The wooded surroundings offer seclusion and are suitable for visitors seeking a remote estate experience.

During World War I, German officers occupied the castle, with historical accounts suggesting that Field Marshal Rupprecht of Bavaria lodged there. This episode reveals how significant military figures passed through this region during the conflict.
