The castle stands with corner towers and a protective moat, surrounded by the dense woods of Ryckevelde in West Flanders.

Built in 1845 on the foundations of a 1353 structure, the castle underwent restoration under architect Stefaan Mortier following French architectural principles.

The estate reflects Belgian architectural evolution through its combination of medieval defensive elements and 19th-century residential adaptations.

The castle functions as a vacation residence with eight bedrooms and seven bathrooms, accommodating groups of up to 22 people.

During World War I, German officers occupied the castle, with reports indicating Field Marshall Rupprecht of Bavaria stayed within its walls.
