Lac Boivin Natural Interpretation Centre, Nature interpretation centre in Granby, Quebec, Canada
The Lac Boivin Natural Interpretation Centre is an outdoor nature education site in Granby, Quebec, built around a small lake surrounded by varied habitats. Marshes, wetlands, hemlock groves, and mixed forest follow one another along a network of marked trails, boardwalks, and climbable observation towers.
The site was established to protect and open to the public the natural environment around Lac Boivin, in the heart of Quebec's Eastern Townships. Over the years, guided tours, themed events, and new trails were added without changing the natural character of the land.
The centre is recognized as one of the richest spots for species diversity in the Haute-Yamaska region and ranks among the top birdwatching locations in all of Québec. Birdwatchers come here to spot birds, frogs, reptiles, and insects in their natural setting.
The centre offers activities in both summer and winter, from hiking and birdwatching in the warmer months to snowshoeing and cross-country skiing when snow covers the trails. Parking is free, and a café and picnic area make it easy to spend a full day on site.
Every August, the site hosts evening gatherings to watch the Perseid meteor shower, and each fall it organizes guided trips to forage for wild mushrooms. These seasonal events draw a very different crowd from the usual trail walkers.
