Ball's Falls Conservation Area, Protected area with waterfalls in Lincoln, Canada
Ball's Falls Conservation Area is a protected landscape with two waterfalls that cascade over the Niagara Escarpment in the Twenty Valley of Ontario. The property spans more than 1200 acres and features multiple hiking trails that connect to the broader Bruce Trail network throughout the conservation area.
The property began in 1807 when John and George Ball purchased extensive land and established a grist mill, saw mill, and woolen mill on the site. These operations transformed the valley into a significant production center for the region during the 1800s.
The area maintains restored buildings from the 1800s, including the Ball family home, a working mill, a chapel, and a blacksmith shop that reflect how people lived and worked here. Walking through these structures gives you a sense of what daily life looked like for the community that once thrived in this valley.
Online reservations are needed for camping, and the area provides hiking options suitable for different skill levels. Plan your visit during warmer months when the falls flow strongly and all trails are easily accessible.
Each November, the property hosts a Thanksgiving celebration where local artisans and regional food producers showcase their goods and crafts. This annual gathering connects the historical site to contemporary community life.
