Cornwall Motor Speedway, dirt racing track in Ontario, Canada
Cornwall Motor Speedway is a racing facility in Ontario featuring a quarter-mile clay track with four turns and approximately 25-degree banking. The venue hosts various racing classes including modified cars, sportsman, pro stock, and mini stock vehicles, as well as traveling racing series.
The speedway opened in 1970 as Power Dam Speedway and experienced several ownership changes, including Pat Hutt in the 1970s and Ron Morin, who purchased the facility in 1982. The Lavergne family took over in 2014 and upgraded the facilities with new grandstands and racing programs.
The speedway serves as a gathering place for the local racing community, where drivers and spectators share their passion for motorsport. On race nights, a family-like atmosphere develops as people from the region come together to experience the excitement of racing.
The venue is best visited on Sunday evenings when weekly racing events take place with various vehicle classes competing. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and prepare for loud noise, as engine sounds during racing are intense.
The fastest lap record was set by Lucas Wolfe in a sprint car at just over 10 seconds, a remarkable achievement on the clay surface. Another fast lap record was achieved by Jared Zimbardi at approximately 11 seconds, showing how competitive driving is at this venue.
