Landquart, Administrative division in Graubünden, Switzerland
Landquart is a municipality in Graubünden with a varied landscape of forested terrain and pasture in the Rhine valley. The area spans several villages and is structured by extensive railway connections that link different valleys.
The area was settled around 840 under the name Ovinae and developed over centuries as an agricultural center in the valley. The current municipality was created through the merger of Igis and Mastrils in 2012.
The town appears as a blend of modern infrastructure and rural surroundings where residents move between the valley and higher elevations for work and leisure. The railway station serves as the natural gathering point where most daily activity converges.
The railway station is the main arrival point, with buses and train connections to places in the surrounding valleys departing from here. The region is easily explored on foot, with many paths through forests and pastures.
A hiking route starts at the railway station and leads over elevated paths into the mountain region of Klosters. This trail connects the valley with alpine landscapes and is often overlooked by visitors.
