Chutzenturm, Wooden observation tower in Seedorf, Switzerland.
Chutzenturm is a wooden observation tower in Seedorf that allows visitors to look out over the landscape between Bern and Lake Biel. The structure features three viewing platforms at different heights, each offering distinct perspectives across the surrounding region.
Construction of the wooden tower began in summer 2009 and was funded through lottery proceeds, municipal contributions, and private donations. The project marked the creation of a new landmark that enriched the region with its contemporary structure.
The tower incorporates local materials, including Douglas fir logs from surrounding forests and royal oak for the 234 steps leading to the platforms.
The tower is reachable on foot from Wahlendorf village, or visitors can park at marked areas near Försterstein and Rungelenbaum. Access is clearly marked and offers several routes depending on arrival point.
The interior uses Douglas fir logs and oak steps that draw on local forest materials. This material choice connects the structure directly to its forest surroundings.
