San Carlo a Negrentino Church

The San Carlo a Negrentino Church features two naves and double apses supported by a stone column, with three rows of mullioned windows in the bell tower.

The church, first documented in 1224, contains frescoes from 1050 and underwent expansion in the late 15th century by demolishing its south wall to double the nave size.

The interior walls display frescoes by Lombardo da Giubiasco and Cristoforo da Seregno, showcasing Byzantine artistic styles with detailed depictions of religious scenes.

Visitors need to collect keys from designated restaurants in Acquarossa to access the church interior, which is located along the old Nara mule-track.

A small window in the oldest apse contains a bas-relief of a peacock, while the bell tower displays coats of arms from Leventina region and Canton Uri.
