Johanniterhaus Küsnacht, Schweiz

Johanniterhaus Küsnacht is a former monastery building with medieval architecture now serving as the main structure of Küsnacht Cantonal School. The complex is divided into classrooms and music rooms while maintaining its original historic layout and design.

The Knights Hospitaller acquired the church and courtyard in 1358 and significantly expanded the complex around 1411. The property passed to Zurich's control during the Reformation in 1532.

The building contains music rooms where students at Küsnacht Cantonal School develop their musical skills as part of their studies. These spaces remain active centers of learning within the school community today.

The building underwent recent comprehensive renovation to improve energy efficiency and technical systems throughout the structure. Access should be arranged respectfully given its active use as a school facility during regular operating hours.

Archaeological digs beneath the music hall uncovered roughly 60 graves from the 10th century. These findings reveal the site functioned as a burial ground centuries before the Johanniter Order arrived.
