Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport, airport
Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport is a modern air terminal in Licheng District, located about 18 miles northeast of the city center. The facility features a large main terminal with check-in counters, a wide waiting hall, twelve self-service kiosks for boarding passes, and 24 boarding bridges for passenger boarding.
The airport opened in 1992 and has been expanded multiple times since. It has developed into the second busiest airport in the region after Qingdao and serves as the main gateway for travelers and visitors to Shandong Province.
Passengers should arrive at least 90 minutes before domestic flights or two hours before international departures, as check-in counters close shortly before takeoff. Multiple transportation options connect the airport to the city: shuttle buses run regularly to the railway station and hotels with rides taking about 50 minutes, and city buses also serve other parts of Jinan and nearby cities such as Zibo, Weifang, and Tai'an.
The airport hosts several airlines with headquarters located here, including Shandong Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, and Shenzhen Airlines, making it a regional transportation hub. Beyond serving over 90 destinations worldwide, the facility offers baggage storage in the arrival hall and a lost-and-found service in the departure hall, making it practical for quick city visits.
