Chengziya

Chengziya is a Neolithic archaeological site in Zhangqiu that contains the remains of several ancient settlements and their structures. The site reveals the layout of homes and the distribution of artifacts that tell us about early human communities in this region.

The site was discovered in 1928 and became important for identifying artifacts from the Longshan culture, which flourished thousands of years ago. This discovery changed how people understood early civilizations in eastern China.

The black pottery items found here show how the Longshan people lived and worked in their daily lives. You can understand their habits by looking at the cups, bowls, and plates, which tell you about the meals they shared and the tools they used.

The site is fairly level and easy to walk through, with excavated areas clearly marked for visitors to follow. Wearing comfortable shoes and being prepared for sun or rain depending on the season is helpful.

The settlement is surrounded by a thick earthen wall that shows how seriously ancient people took the defense of their home. This defensive structure remains surprisingly intact and offers a rare glimpse into the security concerns of this early community.
