The street dates back to the Northern Wei dynasty period between 386 and 534, serving as a significant location for scholar gatherings and cultural events.

Scholars conducted poetry competitions along the creek, where participants who composed unsatisfactory poems were required to drink alcohol as a penalty.

Located near Daming Lake Road, the street connects the Palace Pool to Daming Lake, passing by the Fuxue Confucian Temple and Hundred Flower Pond.
