Shandong Museum, Provincial museum in Jinan, China
The Shandong Museum spans 82,900 square meters across multiple floors, displaying over 210,000 historical artifacts from regional archaeological discoveries.
Established in 1954 as China's first provincial topography museum, the institution stems from the 1887 Yidu Museum founded by John Sutherland Whitewright.
The collections include ceramics, bronzes, Han dynasty stone carvings, Ming and Qing paintings, and artifacts from Neolithic Dawenkou and Longshan cultures.
Located at 11899 Jingshi Road in Jinan, the museum opens Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with free admission.
The natural history section exhibits fossils from Shanwang and contains a complete skeleton of Shantungosaurus, an ancient dinosaur species.
