Jinan Great Southern Mosque, Provincial heritage mosque in Shizhong District, China.
The Jinan Great Southern Mosque extends over 6,630 square meters with buildings arranged symmetrically along an east-west axis toward Mecca.
Established in 1295 during the Yuan Dynasty, the mosque underwent major reconstructions in 1436 and 1492 during the Ming Dynasty period.
The mosque combines traditional Chinese temple architecture with Islamic requirements, featuring a spirit wall at the entrance and a moon building.
The prayer halls and courtyards of the mosque accommodate daily worship services and large gatherings during Islamic festivals throughout the year.
During the Cultural Revolution, the religious structure temporarily served as a factory before receiving provincial protection status in 1992.
