Daminghu

Daminghu is a lake in central Jinan covering about 46 hectares of water, with several small islands dotting its surface. Around the water, temples, pavilions, and gardens are scattered throughout, offering various areas to explore.

The lake's water system was regulated as early as the Song Dynasty, with a control system built on the northern bank using waterproof stone. This ancient structure shows how people have long managed the water to keep it stable.

The Lixia Pavilion displays inscriptions from classical poets and shows how nature inspired artistic expression in Chinese tradition. Visitors can still read these texts today and experience the landscape as artists have seen it for centuries.

Plan to spend several hours exploring all the buildings and gardens around the lake. Most areas are reachable from different bus stops, making it easy to visit different parts.

The water stays at the same level throughout the year because natural springs feed the lake from below. These underground sources keep the water stable regardless of rain or dry seasons.
