Barrandov Bridge, Road bridge in Braník, Czech Republic
Barrandov Bridge is a road bridge crossing the Vltava River between Braník and Hlubočepy. It carries eight traffic lanes and features separate paths for pedestrians and cyclists.
Construction started in 1978, with the southern section completed in 1983 and the northern part finished in 1988. The structure was designed by Karel Filsak and became a key piece of urban infrastructure.
The bridge displays brutalist design from the 1980s with integrated sculptures by Josef Klimeš. It serves as a recognizable landmark that shapes how people experience this part of the city.
The bridge is heavily used daily and can become congested during peak times. Use the pedestrian paths to cross safely, or take the dedicated cycling paths if you are traveling by bike.
The concrete structure varies in width from 40 to 55 meters and is supported by two piers in the river. This varying width allows the bridge to manage different traffic flows efficiently across its span.
