Puchheim

Puchheim is a town near Munich that consists of two distinct areas: the older Puchheim-Ort and the newer Puchheim-Bahnhof section. The Munich S-Bahn railway line links these two parts together as the town's backbone.

Archaeological findings suggest the area was inhabited during the Bronze Age, while the first written records about this place date back to the year 948. This long history shows that the settlement played a role in the region for thousands of years.

The town center serves as a gathering place where residents come together for regular community events and local art displays. These occasions strengthen social bonds and provide artists with opportunities to share their work.

The town sits about 18 kilometers from Munich and is well connected to the city. The S4 railway line and highways A8 and A99 make it easy to arrive from anywhere in the region.

During World War I, the former airfield was converted into a prisoner-of-war camp holding tens of thousands of Russian and French soldiers. These captives later contributed to building and developing the residential areas that still exist today.
