Brücke

Brücke is a stone arch structure that spans about 270 meters across the Main River with ten supporting pillars connecting Ochsenfurt to the Kleinochsenfurt district. The design accommodates light vehicle traffic on one lane and provides separate paths for pedestrians and cyclists.

Construction of the stone arches began in 1512 under architect Hans Bock, replacing an earlier wooden bridge that dated back to 1133. This shift from temporary to permanent structures over the river marked an important change in the region's development.

The alcoves in the highest pillars hold statues of regional figures that tell the story of local history and skilled craftsmanship. Visitors can notice these details while crossing and gain a sense of the area's past through these carved figures.

Access is straightforward since the bridge is well structured with separate pedestrian and bicycle paths, and the flat terrain makes crossing easy. Visitors should allow time to enjoy the river views and consider it a pleasant walking route.

The visible arches are made of limestone blocks while the vaults beneath contain rubble stone, revealing how builders constructed structures centuries ago. This method is still visible today and shows the engineering knowledge of that era.
