Bismarckturm, Observation tower in Gießen, Germany.

The 15-meter-tall stone tower features a square base, an entrance podium, and an octagonal viewing platform with geographical orientation panels.

The tower was built between 1905 and 1906 by teachers and students of the University of Gießen to commemorate Chancellor Otto von Bismarck.

The entrance displays the name BISMARCK and an imperial eagle relief created by sculptor Augusto Varnesi from Frankfurt.

Visitors can access the observation platform on the first and third Sunday of each month to view the Gießen basin landscape.

The structure incorporates basalt lava blocks from Londorf quarries in Rabenau, reflecting the use of local materials in its construction.
