Biesdorfer Höhe, Summit in Marzahn-Hellersdorf district, Berlin, Germany.
Biesdorfer Höhe is an 82-meter summit in Berlin's Marzahn-Hellersdorf district with paths to its peak lined by oak and ash trees. The climb offers different routes, including a straight staircase with about 97 steps and a winding path that spirals around the elevation.
The hill formed from deposits of building debris and waste that accumulated on the site from 1713 until after World War I. Post-World War II deposits of war rubble raised its height from around 46 meters to its current 82 meters.
The name comes from a nearby settlement and the location now serves as a place where visitors can observe the city from a different angle. The observation platform encourages people to stop and look out over the surroundings, showing how this hill has become a gathering spot for residents of the district.
The hill is easy to climb and offers two different routes depending on your preference and fitness level. Wear good shoes, especially if you choose the winding path to better enjoy the green surroundings.
The hill sits near the Wuhle River and a popular hiking trail follows the river valley along its eastern base. This trail connects multiple recreational areas and shows how this spot is part of a wider network of green spaces in the city.
