The Brunnenmeile extends for one kilometer through the Königstrasse pedestrian zone, featuring eleven fountains created by international artists.
The sculpture trail emerged from a nationwide competition led by architect Hartmut Rüdiger and reached completion in 1993 after the construction of the city railway tunnel.
German artists André Volten, Otmar Alt, and French artists Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely contributed significant works to this outdoor gallery.
Visitors can explore the entire collection of fountains while walking through the central shopping district of Duisburg, connecting various urban spaces.
The Lifesaver Fountain, created by Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely, presents a bird figure spraying water from rotating metal structures.
