Burg Laubenbergerstein, Medieval castle ruins in Immenstadt, Germany
The stone remains of Burg Laubenbergerstein stand on a wooded hill north of Immenstadt, overlooking the Iller River crossing point at 47 degrees latitude.
The Bishops of Augsburg established this defensive structure in the 12th century to control the Iller River crossing and collect tolls from passing merchants.
The Heimatverein Immenstadt organization initiated restoration work in 1977, focusing on preserving the artillery tower and main gate for educational purposes.
Visitors can access the castle ruins through marked hiking paths, with the site offering information panels detailing the medieval defensive architecture and local history.
Members of the Laubenberger Ritter group conduct regular historical demonstrations at the site, wearing period costumes to recreate medieval daily activities.
