Burg Wasserburg

Burg Wasserburg is a medieval castle positioned on a peninsula formed by the Inn River in Wasserburg am Inn. The complex features defensive walls, multiple structures spanning different periods, a chapel, and a Knights' Hall that visitors can explore.

The fortress began around 1200 and later became a secondary residence for Duke Heinrich XIII, who expanded it significantly between 1255 and 1290. Later rulers added more buildings to accommodate larger gatherings and courtly events.

The chapel on the grounds displays medieval religious architecture with period-specific construction methods and design choices. Visitors can experience how faith and nobility intertwined within the castle walls.
