The stone fortress stands on a hilltop, featuring defensive walls and architectural elements from different construction periods throughout its existence.
The Lords of Heinriet constructed the castle between 1250 and 1330, which later became the residence of the Counts of Löwenstein in 1492.
The castle grounds maintain experimental vineyards managed by the Weinsberg wine school, contributing to the development of regional wine varieties.
Visitors can reach the castle by taking a 43-minute drive from Stuttgart Airport, with additional historical sites nearby including Stettenfels Castle.
The experimental estate at Burg Wildeck achieved recognition for breeding two specific grape varieties: Samtrot and Dornfelder.
