Unteres Schloss, Manor house in Beilstein, Germany
The Lower Castle is a manor house situated between Beilstein's town center and Hohenbeilstein. The structure features covered arcade walkways, a columned hall for knights, and half-timbered corner towers along its sides.
Construction began on foundations of an administrative court dating back to the 16th century. Industrialist Robert Vollmöller had the current structure built from 1906 to 1908 according to architect Albert Benz's designs.
The building has served as a children's church center since 1957 under the Protestant Church of Württemberg. It shapes local community life today and hosts religious education activities and gatherings.
The building now serves as a venue for church education programs and conferences. Visitors can inquire about access for weddings or events by contacting the managing church directly.
The manor's construction sparked local opposition, resulting in arson at the nearby Hohenbeilstein Castle. The fire damaged sections of the castle, which was owned by the same industrialist.
