Burg Oschersleben, Medieval castle in Oschersleben, Germany
Burg Oschersleben is a medieval castle complex in Oschersleben with a central core fortress and an outer section surrounding it. The site features preserved ring walls and sits south of the old town along the Bode River.
The castle was first documented in 1205 and changed hands between the Archdiocese of Magdeburg and the Counts of Regenstein over time. It eventually became part of the Duchy of Magdeburg.
The castle grounds feature the Gray House and Women's House from medieval times, showing how building styles developed across different periods. These structures reveal the architectural choices people made as centuries passed.
The castle grounds contain archives, an event hall, and residential spaces in the inner section. The outer castle area is primarily used for housing purposes.
Archaeological digs at the site revealed objects from the Neolithic and Late Bronze Age periods. This shows that people lived or gathered on this land long before the castle was ever built.
