Clemens-Hofbauer-Kolleg, Former educational building in Bad Driburg, Germany
The Clemens-Hofbauer-Kolleg is a substantial building designed by architect Josef Ferber that housed classrooms and residential quarters for students in a single structure. The facility combined educational and living spaces to operate as a boarding institution with all necessary amenities.
The institution was founded in 1922 as Studienheim St. Klemens in Warstein-Belecke and relocated to Bad Driburg in 1928. It continued to operate there until 1994.
The school emphasized Latin and Greek studies and offered students a second-chance education path toward university entrance qualification. This learning model shaped daily life for many pupils who gained opportunities to pursue higher education.
The building is located at Nordfeldmark 4 in Bad Driburg and can be viewed from outside. The site is easy to reach and the exterior gives a clear impression of the school complex.
In the post-World War II period, renowned scientists Max Planck and Otto Hahn visited the school when food supplies were limited. These visits show how the institution attracted notable figures even during difficult times.
