Freischütz, Launched roller coaster in Reisbach, Germany.
Freischütz is a steel roller coaster at Bayern Park near Reisbach featuring four inversions, a top hat element, a vertical loop, and two heartline rolls along its 483-meter track. Each train has two cars with three rows of two seats, carrying twelve passengers per departure and accommodating 600 riders per hour.
The coaster was built by Maurer Rides GmbH and opened at Bayern Park in August 2011. It underwent significant maintenance work before resuming operations in June 2022.
The attraction draws inspiration from Carl Maria von Weber's opera Der Freischütz, with the station building designed to resemble a gun barrel and incorporating the Wolfsschlucht gorge theme. Visitors experience this theatrical setting while boarding and can feel transported into the dark atmosphere of the opera's storyline.
The coaster uses LSM launch technology to accelerate riders to about 80 kilometers per hour. Plan your ride during quieter times to avoid longer waits.
The ride is named after Weber's opera and features theatrical details that many visitors overlook, including the gun barrel-shaped station building and the Wolfsschlucht storyline. This connection to the romantic opera transforms the experience beyond a simple technical attraction.
