Schlosskirche Mariä Verkündigung, Baroque church in Liebenburg, Germany.
The Schlosskirche Mariä Verkündigung is a Baroque church with a rectangular hall, mansard roof, and an octagonal roof tower rising above the main structure. The interior features a 1758 ceiling fresco depicting scenes from Saint Clement's life.
Construction took place between 1754 and 1760 under Prince-Bishop Clemens August, replacing an earlier castle church. The new structure was built as a modern Baroque replacement that redefined the religious function of the castle.
The altar depicts the Annunciation, the event that gave the church its name and defines the interior's spiritual focus. Visitors can see how this religious scene shapes the way the space is experienced.
The church functions as a parish church and welcomes visitors to explore its Baroque interior at their own pace. The space can be viewed comfortably without any special requirements or barriers.
The Müller organ from 1761 with 26 registers is the only preserved medium-sized castle organ in Lower Saxony. Its sound and construction reveal details about the region's Baroque organ craftsmanship.
